PIC RIVER, ON – Monday, August 9th, music fans from Heron Bay, Pic River and Manitouwadge assembled at the Pic River Guest Suite to enjoy a House Concert hosted by Singer/Songwriter Bonnie Couchie.

Performing where Flora Poste and Dave Carmichael; who would continue traveling the following day to perform in Atikokan.  Atikokan would be their last Ontario stop on the way to Victoria, British Columbia which they were scheduled to reach in 10 days a hectic schedule but such is the life of performing artists in Canada.

Carmichael was performing when I arrived; I was welcomed with warm, friendly smiles by the room full of strangers.  Candlelight helped light the room, reinforcing the intimate feeling of the House Concert.  Carmichael performed a mix of original and cover songs before Poste joined him; the pair of very talented musicians creating an experience with their music that I am, at a loss to do justice to with words. It included Poste’s “Night Bike” an adventure via melodies through Montreal at Night so true to it’s title I could almost feel the wind on my face.

Wrapping things up, Carmichael and Poste convinced Couchie to take the stage as I had missed her first performance.  She did so with her daughter beside her providing harmony as her Mom sang ‘One Whole Piece” an inspirational piece which caused my hair to stand on my arms, something I have never, before that night, experienced because of a musical performance.

There was no hurry to clear out once Couchie finished; the artists sitting, without any pretense, to enjoy casual conversation with their audience. Couchie gave me a tour of the Guest Suite which she designed and built herself. It is a relaxing space reminiscent of the Serendipity House though full of it’s own originality and merits, I am very much looking forward to having reason to stay there and may use photography of the spectacular view of the river if no other excuse presents itself.

Thank you’s are sent out to Bonnie, Flora and Dave for sharing their beautiful talents wth those of us at the Pic River Guest Suite Monday evening; I eagerly anticipate the next opportunity to hear each of you perform.
