We’ve enjoyed yet another incredible week of play, learning and adventures at Playground. 12 friends participated this week and with ages ranging from 3 to 10 yrs of age finding activities to engage all the children can be a challenge but Playground Staff rose to the occasion once again!

Tuesday, August 10th. we had a fun filled day of water games outside.  The title “wet and Wild Day” definitely described it, we started off with a balloon squat where the children were separated into teams and each child had to run to a balloon, sit on it, and make it pop.  The next game was the raindrop relay where the children had water balloons with holes and had to carry the balloon over the other children’s heads and back to a bin.  This was very entertaining for them, especially when one would pop!  Playground employee, Felicia Cain was dressed up in wet newspaper for the fashion show by the children, they loved how her ‘dress’ kept trying to fall off and Felicia’s efforts to keep it on.  The day ended outside as the children enjoyed the slip and slide and a sprinkler.

Wednesday, August 11th, the kids became little bakers.  They helped make cookies and cupcakes which would be enjoyed at the following day’s ‘Birthday Bash’.  This day ended with a craft; the children picked various rocks to make their own rock pets.

Thursday, August 12th, was the much anticipated ‘Birthday Bash’.  Everyone was able to celebrate their birthdays; we made birthday hats from paper plates and the kids decorated their cupcakes, which were completed with a candle, before everyone dug in, enjoying the treats all the more because they made them themselves.  After eating their cupcakes the kids played pass the package and pin the tail on the donkey.

Friday we enjoyed ‘Pool Day’ once again, there was as much laughing as there was splashing, the kids hoping we could fit this in again soon.  Finally the week wrapped up with a sponge art craft making octopus.

August 16th will kick off the 8th and final session of Playground for Summer 2010. If you would like to register your child please visit the township office. Fees are just $7/day, Playground runs Monday – Friday from 12:30 – 4:30 pm.
