WHITE RIVER, ON – Saturday, August 21st the Winnie the Pooh Festival and accompanying 125th Anniversary Celebrations continued with a full day of events from 7:30 am through to the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The fun started early with a Pancake Breakfast hosted by St. Basil’s Church at the Legion hall; the breakfast was very well attended becoming yet another opportunity for those who have returned ‘home’ to connect with old friends and extended family while making many new friendships.

The Pooh Parade was next on the festival agenda. Residents, visitors and neighbours from across the Northshore lined the parade route; cheering it on from the sidewalks, their homes, and their vehicles as the parade travelled from the A&W Parking Lot, just feet from Hwy 17, and down Elgin Street, turning on to Winnipeg Street, before ending approximately one hour later at the White River Community Centre. Lead and swept by OPP cruisers with other emergency services teams and vehicles throughout, the parade also included local, regional and provincial dignitaries, a plethora of very creative floats, and many favourite characters including Tigger, Piglet and Winnie the Pooh on foot distributing candy and pausing for photos with fans.

At the Community Centre the Bear-a-Fair Trade Show, Winnie’s Funland (inflatables),  and Fun Mixed Slow Pitch tournament continued drawing hundreds. Trade show businesses included local and regional vendors while live entertainment which had included the kids Karaoke Idol competition finals Friday and Camp Rock Tribute Saturday kept attendees at the arena long after they had finished shopping the Bear-a-Fair. Included among the Camp Rock tribute performances were Hannah Montana, the Jonas Bros., Justin Beaver and Lady Gaga which had kids on their feet dancing during the performance and lined up for autographed posters and other memorabilia long after.

The fun continued long into the night with yet another adult dance at which the Karaoke Idol competition wound up; Sunday the Annual Fun Family Fish Derby at Crocker Lake wrapped up the 2010 Poohfest with a splash!
