Changes to the Canada Revenue Agency Website

On October 4, 2010, the CRA will replace the existing Government of Canada epass system with a new CRA user ID and password service.  This new service will continue to provide secure access to Represent a Client, My Account, and My Business Account. You will not need to register again for a RepID or resubmit authorization forms for your clients.

When you access Represent a Client, My Account, or My Business Account on or after October 4, 2010, you will be directed through a transition process which will include:

  • Entering your access code and postal code if transitioning through Represent a Client, or entering your social insurance number and date of birth if transitioning through My Account or My Business Account.
  • Answering three security questions that you previously created.
  • Creating your new CRA user ID and password.

Only one transition process will be permitted for each user.

If you use the same user ID and password to access Represent a Client and to access your personal tax information in My Account or your business tax information in My Business Account, we recommend that you transition through the My Account or My Business Account service first. If you transition through Represent a Client first you will have to re-register for My Account and/or My Business Account that includes the mailing of the CRA Security Code letter which takes approximately five business days to receive. You will be able to use this same user ID and password to access Represent a Client.

If you use different user IDs and passwords to access Represent a Client and My Account or My Business Account, we also recommend that you transition through the My Account or My Business Account service first. To access Represent a Client using a different user ID and password, you need only re-register for Represent a Client to gain immediate access.

Before October 4 we suggest that you remind yourself of your security questions. You can do this by logging into Represent a Client, My Account, or My Business Account and selecting the Manage my security options link.

If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact the CRA e-Services Helpdesk at 1-800-714-7257.
