NOTICE OF COMPLETION

Environmental Review Report Gitchi Animki Hydroelectric Project

The Pic Mobert Hydro Power Joint Venture, an initiative of the Pic Mobert First Nation is proposing the development of two hydroelectric facilities contracted under the provincial Feed In Tariff Program with a combined capacity of approximately 18.0 MW on the White River.  New structures will be erected 3.2 km downstream of the existing Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) White Lake dam and 1.6km downstream of the Chicagonce Falls. The facility 3.2 km downstream of the existing MNR White Lake dam will replace that existing dam, which will be removed. The map below indicates the location of the proposed development.

Sites for hydroelectric development were originally allocated to the Pic Mobert First Nation by the Minister of Natural Resources in 1993.  The project is subject to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) Environmental Screening Process for Electricity Projects required under Regulation 116/01 of the Environmental Assessment Act as well as an assessment under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA).  The project is also governed by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Waterpower Program Guidelines.  The Environmental Reviews Report is available for public review at the flowing locations during regular business hours as of September 3, 2010;

The environmental screening concluded that there will be no significant environmental effects after the application of mitigation and other impact management measures.  The proponent intends to proceed with the Project Subject to the noted mitigation other commitments and requisite approvals.

Any outstanding environmental concerns should b provided to and/or discussed with the person named above.  If concerns remain, a written request to elevate the project to an Individual Environmental Assessment may be made to the Director of the Environmental Assessment and Approvals Branch, Ministry of the Environment, 2 St. Clair Avenue W., Floor 12A, Toronto, ON M4V 1L5, with a copy to the person named above.  Elevation requests must b received no later than October 4, 2010 and must be n accordance with the provisions set out n the Ministry of the Environments’ Guide to Environmental Assessment Requirements for Electricity Projects.
