MANITOUWADGE, ON  – The Manitouwadge Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is sponsoring a prize worth $100 for the Township of Manitouwadge Economic Development Department’s (EDD) challenge to local students to name the soon to be released ‘Manitouwadge Dollars’, an integral part of the upcoming Buy Local Campaign.

A few weeks ago, a local weekly paper released a photo taken during an interview with the Economic Development Officer Dave Raymond.  The photo of “Manitouwadge Bucks” as they were refered to, did cause some confusion as an image for the currency has yet to be confirmed and the image used was not in fact approved for release as the official bill for the buy local campaign.  As of publish, there is yet to be an image released for the Buy Local Campaign currency.

The EDD is making this a true ‘community initiative’, with the help of the MEDC who has sponsored the incredible ONE HUNDRED MANITOUWADGE DOLLAR prize, having reached out to all four local schools; École Publique Franco-Manitou, Manitouwadge High School, Manitouwadge Public School and Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, in their search for a fitting name for the currency which will be available for purchase at the Township office and, redeemable for products and services (not redeemable for cash) at local merchants.  Beyond the practicality of these dollars as gift certificates, there are additional promotions being planned to make the currency that much more appealing to consumers of Manitouwadge goods and services.

If your child did not bring home an official entry form, please CLICK HERE to download the official entry form for the ‘Name the Manitouwadge Dollars Contest’ which should be submitted to the ballot box at their school by October 11th as the draw will take place October 12th, 2010 at 4pm. If your suggestion is the lucky winner, you will win $100 Manitouwadge dollars to be spent at any participating merchants.

Good Luck to all the entrants!

Remember, this is YOUR chance to win a GREAT prize AND have an important contribution in the ‘Buy Local Campaign’!
