15yr old Impaired Driver

Kenora, ON – Officers from Kenora Detachment removed two more impaired drivers from our highways over the weekend. On Saturday 16 October 2010 officers had the occasion to stop a vehicle for speeding on highway 17 near Moth Lake. The officer identified the driver was exhibiting signs of impairment and expected drugs were suspect. The driver failed the Standard Field Sobriety Tests that were conducted by the Drug Recognition Officer; he was arrested and returned to detachment. 58 year old Lance Merritt of Winnipeg has been charged with failing to provide a urine sample. Merritt will attend Kenora court 08 November to answer to the charge. 

On Saturday 16 October at 1:30 AM officers were dealing with a vehicle blocking the roadway on Carlton Rd. A vehicle approached the officers who spoke to the driver and identified that he was showing signs of impairment. He was arrested and returned to Kenora detachment for tests. A 15 year old Kenora youth has been charged with impaired driving, he will attend Kenora court 23 November to answer to the charge.

Drug enforcement ongoing

Friday 15 October officers were patrolling the bush area behind Beaver Brae High School when they came across male subjects engaged in drug transactions. 18 year old Jason Paypompee from Sioux Narrows has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Paypompee will attend Kenora court 15 Nov. to answer to the charge.
