Cantabile, the London Quartet

Not a dull moment throughout their two hour performance, Cantabile had the audience in stiches throughout.

The irony of the group choosing, at random, a couple newly relocated from Britain to Manitouwadge, fit perfectly with the dry wit of their performance.

Baritone, Michael Steffan

MANITOUWADGE, ON – Monday, October 18th, Manitouwadge and area music enthusiasts were treated to an incredible vocal performance at the Manitouwadge High School auditorium as Nite on the Town Entertainment Series of the Arts presented Cantabile, the London Quartet.

Cantabile, Michael Steffan, Barritone, Mark Fleming, Tenor, Steven Brooks, Tenor, and Richard Bryan, Counter Tenor, have performed accross the globe from the U.S. to South Africa to Southeast Asia and the Far East for audiences that range from Monday’s small town working class audience to royalty which includes Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The playbill in Manitouwadge included a wide variety of vocal genres; opening as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, they also performed a Homage to Harmony Groups which included Java Jive by the Ink Spots; Lullaby by the Hi-Lo’s; and even their own interpretation of the Delta Rhythm Boys Dry Bones as arranged by Livingston Gearhart which included dance moves which had the entire audience roaring in laughter.  Personally by the end of the night I hurt from laughing so hard.

Their new fans in Manitouwadge were not naive to the level of talent they were enjoying and brought them back out with a huge standing ovation at the end of their performance which had involved much audience interaction and even a seranade to one lucky audience member.

Next on the agenda for Nite on the Town Entertainment is Dala, touted as the “Darlings of the Canadian music scene”, Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine will perform December 7th.
