Don’t Sit Still Tour Visiting Nipigon!

TVOKids’ 2010 Don’t Sit Still Tour invites Thunder Bay and Nipigon to get up and get active!

Free live stage show motivates kids to get active, eat right and have fun.

TORONTO, ON /CNW/ – Get ready to get up and get active! As long-time champions of healthy minds and healthy bodies for children, TVOKids and the Don’t Sit Still Tour are bringing their free high-energy live stage show to Thunder Bay on Saturday October 23 and Nipigon on Sunday October 24 (times and venues are listed below).

Presented by EatRight Ontario, with sponsorship in part by Egg Farmers of Ontario, the TVOKids Don’t Sit Still Tour travels to communities across Ontario and features the ever-popular TVOKids Hosts Kara and Mark in a free high-energy stage show that encourages a healthy, active lifestyle. Young audiences and their families can enjoy new songs, new dance moves and non-stop opportunities to join in and follow along. And as a memento of the show and its message of healthy living, kids receive free “Don’t Sit Still” gift bags.

“The Ontario Government is pleased to support the TVOKids Don’t Sit Still Tour. Reaching out to children and parents with messages on making healthy eating choices and being more active for better health is important. The tour is an interactive and fun way to reach thousands of children throughout the province,” says Margarett Best, Ontario’s Minister of Health Promotion and Sport.

In Thunder Bay, the Don’t Sit Still Tour will appear at the “Munch and Move” event taking place at the Sports Dome from 12 – 3 pm on Saturday October 23. Presented by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and the local branch of the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario as part of Week of the Child, the free event offers families an action-packed afternoon of activities and games focused on fitness, nutrition and healthy living. In addition to two performances of the Don’t Sit Still live show, the event will feature belly dancing, taste testing, wacky hockey and more. Nutrition booths will also be available for families to ask questions and get information from Registered Dietitians and nutritionists from EatRight Ontario and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

“What’s really cool about the Don’t Sit Still Tour is we get kids excited about eating right and getting active,” says TVOKids host Mark Sykes.” You’ll see kids having fun singing and dancing with us, and they don’t even know that while they’re moving they’re actually learning about active lifestyles and healthy eating. [Fellow TVOKids host] Kara and I have a blast travelling across Ontario because we get to connect with TVOkids fans face-to-face!”

Following is the schedule for Thunder Bay and Nipigon. Each Don’t Sit Still show is free and lasts approximately 30 minutes. All shows will be co-hosted by TVOKids hosts Mark Sykes and Kara Harun.
