Fallen Firefighters Honoured +Video

McGuinty Government Honours Firefighters At Queen’s Park, Fire Fighter Memorial

October 3rd, 2010 Ontario’s fallen firefighters were remembered for their bravery, heroism and sacrifice.

Families, friends and colleagues of fallen firefighters gathered together for the annual Fire Fighter Memorial ceremony at Queen’s Park.

The names of 31 fallen firefighters were added to the 500 already engraved on the columns of the memorial.

Firefighters continue to protect and keep 13 million Ontarians safe. They are honoured today as Fire Prevention Week begins.

This year’s theme, Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With, addresses the critical need for working smoke alarms and a fire escape plan in every home across Ontario, information that will help protect Ontario families and prevent the deaths of more brave heroes.
