Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

GERALDTON, ON – On the 14th of October 2010 at approximately 5:20pm officers from the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision.

The collision occurred approximately 5.5 kilometres west of Geraldton near Goldfield Road on Highway 11 and involved a commercial motor vehicle and a pickup truck.

As a result of the collision the male driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He was subsequently identified as James O’BRIEN (60 years old) of Bowmanville, Ontario. 

Another male sustained non life threatening injuries as a result of the collision.

The 50-year old male driver of the commercial motor vehicle from Etobicoke, Ontario has been charged with driving with no license and having an expired insurance card.

The investigation is continuing.
