Inquest Into The Death Of John Holness Announced

Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of John Holness.

Mr. Holness, 57, died on December 1, 2008, while in custody at the Toronto East Detention Centre in Scarborough. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Holness’ death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 14 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010, at the Toronto Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor Street. Dr. Bonnie Burke will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner.

Inquest Into The Death Of Ron Pilon Announced

HAMILTON — Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Operations, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Ron Pilon.

Mr. Pilon, age 59, died on July 29, 2008, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Kitchener. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Pilon’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from approximately five witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Kitchener Superior Court of Justice, 20 Weber Street. Dr. Jack Stanborough will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Michael Townsend will be counsel to the coroner.

Inquest Into The Death Of Petro Vero Announced

Dr. Jim Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Petro Vero.

Mr. Vero, 51, died on June 13, 2009, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Toronto. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Vero’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last 10 days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Toronto Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor Street. Dr. David Sedran will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner.
