MANITOUWADGE, ON – Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 friends and family of Manitouwadge’s new council along with several township heads of department gathered in Council Chambers for the swearing in of the newly elected municipal government.

Town Clerk Cecile Kerster officiated as the Mayor, John MacEachern followed by Councillors Connie Hunter, Donna Jaunzarins, Natalie Labbee, and Sheldon Plummer each read their Oath to Office before signing their official contract.  The Mayor then addressed those in attendance, thanking the previous council for “How conscientiously they served the public during the past four years”, recognizing all those who ran for office crediting them for having had the courage to do so before welcoming his new team “Congratulations” said MacEachern to the new councillors, ” I am looking forward to a very successful four years”. 

The ceremony ended with deserts and refreshments enjoyed by those in attendance and a short break before the council’s regular meeting began.
