MANITOUWADGE, ON – Township of Manitouwadge Community Services Department issued a press release today, confirming that the hill is scheduled to open prior to Christmas.  Snow making and other preparations have been on-going since the beginning of the month, good news to Northshore skiers who are planning to hit the hills this holiday season.

Those on the fence about whether a season membership is worthwhile have added incentive again this year. The Kiwissa Ski Club is sponsoring a promotion to boost membership sales as those who purchase prior to opening day, December 21st, will have their name enterred into a draw which would see their money refunded for the full membership cost.  This, in addition to the incomparably affordable prices on Kiwissa Memberships should help Santa leave Kiwissa Memberships under Northshore Christmas trees this year. (CILCK HERE for Kiwissa lift ticket & membership prices)

Community Programmer, Shawna Patterson, was confident the conditions would be ideal come December 21st “Skiers will definetely be reaping the rewards of much hard work this month on the part of Ski Hill employees”. Kiwissa skiers have indeed benefitted from the work of those maintaining the hill in recent years, thanks in large part to their use of snow making equipment, the season at Kiwissa has been significantly extended.  This year’s early opening would not be happening without it, as the open runs will be limited to those which have been artifically prepared; the Practice Hill (Easy – 129m), the Main Run (More Difficult – 380m), the Pine Run (More Difficult -375m), the Bunny (Easy) and the 614 (1km) for which 2010-11 will be the inaugural season.

Details of who will be managing the kitchen/snack counter at Kiwissa continue to circulate though Patterson could not confirm saying that these would be decided at the next regular Council Meeting (to be broadcast live on OntarioNewsNorth.com) Monday, December 20th.  There are rumours that the Mary Bellmore’s Full Belly Deli has applied for the contract, though unconfirmed this would be great news as Kiwissa has not had a menu as varied, as that of the Full Belly Deli, for many years. OntarioNewsNorth.com will report on this when officially announced.
