Terrace Bay Public Forum

TERRACE BAY, ON – Wednesday, December 1st, approximately 40 residents attended a public forum in Terrace Bay to discuss the future direction of their community.

The forum began with the swearing in of the ‘new’ Council which was acclaimed during October’s Municipal Elections in Ontario.  Each member of Council took the opportunity to share their vision for the next four years.  Members of the public were then given the opportunity to speak and propose ideas for Council to consider in developing their next four year strategic plan.  CAO Carmelo Notarbartolo said “I was very impressed with the turnout and the positive discussion from residents.  They seem to be very happy with the direction of the Township and look forward to the future.”

Some of the items that were suggested from Council as well as the public included:

  • waterfront development,
  • recycling,
  • supportive housing,
  • investment in infrastructure replacement,
  • renewable energy projects,
  • continued marketing of the Township, and
  • continued diversification of the economy.

The ideas and thoughts shared will assist the Terrace Bay Town Council in developing a new strategic plan covering their upcoming four year term.  The final plan is expected to be approved in early 2011.  For more information on the public forum, please visit www.terracebay.ca/news.
