Fun with Fitness

Can you imagine if our bodies ran on gasoline?  Well it does, but our gasoline is food.  For some people it is hard to imagine just that, because the taste of food is good, and we tend to eat for many different reasons, not just to keep going.  I love food, if I could spend all day eating, I would but then I would spend all day doing jumping jacks just to burn that extra food off.  As fun as that would be, I just don’t have the time.

I started treating my body like a car, maintaining it when necessary, and deciding that those extra portions are not needed.  Mind you, you can still find me performing jumping jacks anywhere at anytime, but that is the fun part!

For others out there, the battle against food is difficult, and can be treated with mind over matter.  Willpower if you must.  Keeping reminders attached the fridge, and cupboards of either being active on a daily basis or a question of “Do I really need to consume this right now?  What am I getting out of this?” can help us stay on track.

Studies show that if you eat 20% less of what is not necessary, you will live 20% longer.  Sounds great, but determination is the only way you will get anywhere.  Set a short term goal, and stick with it.  For example, deplete your portions daily for just one week at a time.  Something that you start doing that shows a difference will become habit it no time.  Liking the results of anything in life, will make you want to do that more.  Addiction, anything fun is habit forming.  Eating clean is one of them.
