MARATHON, ON – Saturday, January 22nd dignitaries from Superior North CFDC, the Marathon & District Chamber of Commerce and Mayor and Council members from the Town of Marathon joined entrepreneur Tyler Davis to celebrate the Grand Opening of his new business, Crossover Video & Games.

Some may remember Davis from his time as an employee for Movie Gallery which used to operate the same space, in the Superior Place Mall, that his store is now located in.  Davis says his experiences working for the movie store have contributed to his new role as owner of Crossover Video & Games but that many things are being done differently now that the store is no longer part of a national chain “I am putting an emphasis on personalized service and [since opening Dec.1] customers have been commenting on this in a very positive way” said Davis.  In fact it seems word of the service and selection at Crossover has quickly travelled beyond Marathon as Davis enthusiastically shared that he and his staff (6 Part-time Customer Service Reps + 1 bookkeper) has already been welcoming customers from neighbouring communities.

Attendance prizes at Crossover Video & Games' Grand Opening; in the days preceeding the Grand Opening customers enterred their name with every purchase for a chance to win a Blu-Ray player - Chantal Tremblay was the lucky winner.

Mayor Rick Dumas sees Davis not just as an entrepreneur but also as someone who could inspire others to become self-employed.  “ I hope that other young people in our community see what Tyler has done and realize that if they have an entrepreneurial idea,  resources exist to facilitate research and development of new business in Marathon” said Mayor Dumas adding that “the opportunities are here for those ready to put in the time and hard work” .

After the ribbon cutting, Davis shared a cake and refreshments with those in attendance. Give-a-ways continued throughout the afternoon; Davis gave away a Blu-Ray player to one lucky customer plus attendees entered their names in draws for door prizes of gift baskets, entertainment packages and a satellite radio boombox.
