MANITOUWADGE, ON – Friday, January 28th efforts in Manitouwadge to have the community named as Kraft Hockeyville 2011 continued with a Community Skating Party at the Recreation Centre Arena.  Volunteers April Robinson and Natalie Labee had a table set up in the lobby once again, helping people scan photos and/or upload stories to CBC’s Hockeville nomination page.  Kelly and Becky Gorges served free hot chocolate to skaters throughout the evening and the arena itself had lights dimmed to allow festive holiday lights set the party mood.  Photo props were available to use; in the lobby, a Hockeyville Zamboni, complete with a dummy driver was enjoyed by many of the non-skaters while on the ice, people could set their faces behind stuffed copper kings players in net complete, of course, with plenty of Kraft hockeyville branding. The event was a great success and the perfect precursor to Saturday’s COPPER KINGS vs. COPPERS game where the Ontario Provincial Police Manitouwadge/Marathon Detachment will face off against the local Atoms hockey team in the Recreation Centre Arena.
