McGuinty Government Supports The Electronics Sector To Market Globally

Ontario is helping a Toronto technology company develop a next generation video chip, while creating 44 new high-tech jobs and supporting 96 existing positions.

ViXS Systems Inc. will develop cutting-edge technology for the growing global electronics market. ViXS’s technology is currently used by some of the world’s top manufacturers of Digital TVs, DVDs, Personal Video Recorders and home computers.

With a $6.15 million provincial grant to ViXS’s $40.97 million project, it will attract investment, enhance the Toronto-Kitchener-Waterloo Information and Communications Technology (ICT) innovation corridor, and build upon Ontario’s reputation as a world-class jurisdiction for research and innovation.

This investment supports the province’s five-year Open Ontario plan to create new job opportunities and promote economic growth.
