PEACEFULL RESOLUTION TO INCIDENT IN PIC MOBERT FIRST NATIONS

MARATHON, ON – February 12, 2011, Anishinabek Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a distraught male in a residence on Pic Mobert First Nation territory. 

After evacuating several nearby residents and setting up a security perimeter police contacted the male.  The male exited the residence without incident and was assisted by Anishinabek Police Service officers.

Police would like to thank all community members for their patience and understanding while the incident was being resolved.

Anishinabek Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a distraught male in the Pic Mobert First Nation area at approximately 3 pm. Police remained at the scene overnight.

Police have cordoned of an area around the residence and have evacuated several residents from neighbouring houses.

Police are advising that no one will be allowed into the cordoned off area.

Anishinabek Police Service and the Ontario Provincial police will release further information as it develops.
