CROSSOVER INSIDER – Davis Recognizes Efforts of Local Baking Philantropist

March break is over and the kids are back to school, but that hasn’t stopped Yogi Bear from making an appearance. Yogi, Boo Boo and the rest of the crew are back in a hilarious family friendly movie that is set to hit the shelves at Crossover Video and Games this week (Tuesday, March 22^nd). Along with Yogi are 8 other titles that are sure to peak the interests of movie lovers of all genres. Let’s take a closer look at these titles;

The Tourist: starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp- Frank, an American tourist visiting Italy meets Elise who lures him in to “act” as her lover who is wanted by police and mob members. (DVD and Blu Ray)

Skyline: Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth. (DVD and Blu Ray)

Yogi Bear: featuring the voices of Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd- A documentary filmmaker travels to Jellystone Park to shoot a project and soon crosses paths with Yogi Bear, his sidekick Boo-Boo, and Ranger Smith. (DVD and Blu Ray)

How Do You Know: starring Reese Witherspoon, Jack Nicholson and Owen Wilson- After being cut from the USA softball team and feeling a bit past her prime, Lisa finds herself evaluating her life and in the middle of a love triangle, as a corporate guy in crisis competes with her current, baseball-playing beau. (DVD and Blu Ray)

Adventures of a Teenage Dragonslayer: A boy unwittingly discovers the secret to stopping an evil dragon who threatens to destroy all civilization. (DVD)

Dear Mr. Gacy: A chronicle of the interaction between college student Jason Moss and the object of his obsession, serial killer John Wayne Gacy. (DVD)

Siren: A group of friends escaping the city for a weekend away have a simple plan, to tour the coast for a relaxing weekend. Things hit a snag when one of the friends spots a seductive young woman waving for help off the shore of an of island. Reaching out to rescue her turns deadly and they risk everything to get off the island alive. (DVD)

St. Trinians 2: starring Rupert Everett and Colin Firth- The girls of St. Trinians are on the hunt for buried treasure after discovering headmistress Miss Fritton is related to a famous pirate. (DVD)

2:22: starring Val Kilmer- On a snowy night a tight crew of four criminals plan to pull off a routine heist. When things go horribly wrong, friendship, loyalty and trust are pushed to the limit. (DVD)

Crysis 2: It’s 2023, terrifying alien invaders stalk the New York City streets. Only you can prevail, wielding the supersoldier enhancements of Nanosuit 2. (PS3 and 360)

On an unrelated but very sad topic, the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan have wreaked havoc in that country. Lives have been lost and many have been left with nothing. These people need our help and one young lady has taken up that challenge. Chian Foley, a 10 year old Marathon resident, was so touched by what she saw on the news that she took it upon herself to make a difference. Chian visited several local businesses leaving collection jars in hopes that people would spare some change to help the cause. To take it even further, Chian (with the help of her proud parents) organized a bake sale that was held this past Sunday at DH Foods in Marathon. The generosity of the people of Marathon was on display as the bake sale was a huge success! To date, Chian has collected over 1,100 dollars! All of the proceeds are being donated to the Save the Children Fund. Chian’s goal through all of this is to raise awareness and to help the people of Japan as they cope with this horrific disaster.
