Full-Day Kindergarten To Be Offered In 900 More Schools
Providing A Good Start For Children And Making Life A Little Easier For Parents
Almost half of Ontario’s four-and-five-year olds will benefit from full-day kindergarten in September 2012. This week (Wed.Mar.2) the McGuinty government was proud to announce that 120 000 4 and 5 year olds will have the option to attend Full Day Kindergarten by 2012. That school year, around 900 more schools will start offering full-day kindergarten. Full-day kindergarten will be available in all elementary schools by September 2014.
A full day of learning early in life makes the transition to Grade 1 easier for both parents and children. Also, students who achieve early success in school are more likely to go on to postsecondary education.
By September 2012, full-day kindergarten will expand to about 900 more schools across Ontario, bringing the total number of schools offering the program to almost 1,700. The approximately 900 schools that offer full-day kindergarten as-of fall 2012 are listed below.
