Letter to the Editor – Concerts in the Parking Lot

From the Editor: This was sent in by Andrew Coulter, organizer of the Concerts in the Parking Lot series in Marathon, he is looking for music lovers who would be interested in volunteering for the Concerts In The Parking Lot (CITPL) series. If you enjoy the Night on the Town Entertainment Series in Manitouwadge then you will LOVE the Concerts in the Parking Lot series!!! It is the perfect summer take on NOTES and a great excuse to take a drive to Marathon once a week.  Emeraude and I went on a couple occasions last summer and absolutely loved it, one time I had a great pickerel supper we had bought in Nipigon so we opened up the back of the van, flipped the seats and let our legs hand out the back as we enjoyed supper and a show in the warm summer evening – what could be better? Now just keep reading to learn how you could help Andrew keep this great series going for 2011…

Hello Music Lovers,

As most of you may know, we have been hosting CITPL shows for the past five summers. This coming will be the sixth. We have had artists that have been Juno winners prior & post our shows. We so enjoy being able to bring these gifted professional performers to our community and to be able to sit back and enjoy the relaxed kind of feeling one can only get from listening to live music. In the summer. In a parking lot. In our home town.

It is becoming harder for us to commit every Wed night to a CITPL show. We do not want to let this series go but we need to  reach out to the community and ask if YOU want the CITPL summer music series to continue and – how you might be able to help out in a small way. In no way do we expect anyone to commit their whole summer or anything even close to it. The idea that “many hands make light work” definitely applies here. The more folks that step forward and offer their help for a task or two – one or two Wednesday’s, the more that we ALL get to enjoy our summer!

There is really very little required as far as skills or experience goes but rather, just a willingness to help out.

If you wish to see this series continue, please make the effort to attend a brief meeting on Monday April 11th @ 7pm at the legion. If you can not make this meeting but would like to be involved in some way please contact me by phone 229 6901 or by email at abdm4coulter@shaw.ca

Hope to see you there!

Andrew Coulter

P.S.  We have enough requests at this time to set a schedule for the whole summer!
