QUEEN’S PARK, ON – Today in the Legislature, Peter Tabuns NDP Environment Critic, reiterated the NDP policy saying to Liberal Energy Minister Duguid “I believe in offshore wind power, this is a Minister of Energy who doesn’t, so I’ve had it with the lectures”.

This statement reflects the New Democratic Party’s support for the Green Energy Act and, in particular, the renewable energy portfolio.  This portfolio supports the use of windmills, hydroelectric, solar and biomass alternative.

While the government has stopped any offshore development, the NDP wants water-based turbines to go forward immediately.

“This is an important clarification of the New Democratic position, which appears at odds with the local NDP position”, said Mike Brown, MPP, Algoma-Manitoulin.
