New Chair of the Ontario Energy Board

Statement by Minister Brad Duguid in Nominating a New Chair of the Ontario Energy Board

March 4, 2011

I am pleased to announce that Rosemarie T. Leclair has been nominated as Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ontario Energy Board (OEB). The appointment is subject to review by the Standing Committee on Government Agencies.

Ms Leclair is currently President and CEO of the Hydro Ottawa Group of Companies. She also serves on the Board of the Canadian Energy Association and is well known within the electricity sector serving in various capacities including on the IESO Stakeholder Advisory Board, and the Electricity Distributors Association.

She has also been involved with various community and business groups including the United Way and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.

This is an important time for Ontario’s energy system, as we invest in creating a clean and reliable energy system for the province’s future. A well respected leader within the energy industry, Ms. Leclair would bring tremendous value to the work the OEB undertakes to advance the interests of energy consumers in Ontario.

Our government believes Ms Leclair would be a significant asset to our Province as Chair of the OEB, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with her.
