Physician Recruitment Efforts Ongoing in Marathon
Physician Recruiter Brett Redden is employed on a contractual basis thanks to the generous assistance of Barrick Gold, Pic Mobert First Nation, Wilson Memorial General Hospital, Marathon Family Health Team and the Town of Marathon.

As many in the community know, we are actively recruiting physicians through our physician recruiter, Brett Redden, on a daily basis. As we continue to try to recruit new physicians to our community, we have visiting physicians coming to our community on a regular basis. They play a vital role in helping meet our patients’ needs and they help maintain our current level of service.
It is important that our communities be aware that visiting physicians could potentially become permanent physicians. Your continued support is appreciated.
It is important to remember that when you call the clinic for an appointment, it may be that the earliest available appointment will be with a visiting physician. If you are offered an appointment with a visiting physician or learner we encourage you to take it as that may be the most efficient way to have your health care needs met. Please continue to see our RN’s, RPN’s, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, dietician and social worker if your health care needs can be met by them.
Many members of our community continue to play a positive role in our recruiting efforts. A great example is Ken Stewart of the Marathon Curling Club, who gave curling lessons to one of our recent visiting physicians and their husband. They commented on how they have never had the opportunity to do such an activity and would probably never have such an opportunity in a bigger center. We also thank the Marathon Mercury and Marathon Public Library who has offered their services. We thank you!
The generosity of members of our communities goes a long way in not only potentially recruiting a particular physician, but also in generating great “word of mouth” PR for our community. Please continue to help in our efforts by welcoming visiting physicians and learners to our community. They may be your doctor one day! As a clinic and hospital, we continue to work hard to recruit new physicians and to continue to meet your health care needs.
