Schreiber OPP Officer Charged With

OPP CHARGE OFFICER WITH CRIMINAL OFFENCES

THUNDER BAY, ON – A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from North West Region has been charged following an investigation by the OPP Professional Standards Bureau (PSB).

The investigation was initiated December 29, 2010 when OPP PSB was contacted by Thunder Bay Police Service regarding incidents involving the accused that occurred in the City of Thunder Bay. The investigation revealed that the accused had made false statements against the victim which caused the police to conduct an investigation and that he had illegally intercepted a private conversation.

On March 23, 2011 Provincial Constable Gregory SUTTON, age 41, was charged with one count of Intercepting Private Communications and two counts of Public Mischief. 

An 8 year member of the OPP from the Schreiber Detachment, he was off duty at the time of the incidents and is currently suspended.

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on March 24, 2011.
