“I want to thank the voters of our riding for their support, “said Hughes. “I am honoured to be your representative in the House of Commons, and you have my commitment that my Northern Ontario NDP colleagues and I will continue to fight for a fair share for the North.”

“I am proud of our campaign team, and the many volunteers who helped make thismoment possible,” Hughes said. “I also want to extend my congratulations to my opponents in this election. They ran spirited, enthusiastic campaigns.”

Hughes, who was first elected as MP for Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing in the 2008 Federal Election, received more than 10,000 votes this time.
