NIPIGON/SCHREIBER OPP Weekend Review

EARLY MORNING IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED

NIPIGON, ON–During the weekend of April 29 to May 1, 2011 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 32 calls for service and issued 39 Provincial Offence Notices.  Police conducted 3 R.I.D.E. checks.

Nipigon OPP charged one driver with impaired driving over the weekend.  On May 1 at approximately 8:00 a.m. police received a complaint of an intoxicated driver.  Within minutes of the report, the suspect vehicle was located on First Street in Nipigon.  The driver was found to have been drinking and was arrested.  The 21 year old female, Marcia POTAN of Lake Helen, Ontario, has been charged with Impaired Driving, Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content, and Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code. 

POTAN will attend Nipigon Court on June 14 to answer to these charges.
