Superior North Catholic DSB Celebration of Excellence 2011

MARATHON, ON – What a wonderful way to end Catholic Education Week, acknowledging employees who have served the Superior North Catholic District School Board for many years!

The Board’s 15th annual celebration of Excellence banquet was held May 7th. Service pins were awarded to employees with 5, 10, 20, and 25 years of service.  Mrs Gayle Donohue was honoured for her 11 years of teaching and her retirement, with a wristwatch.  Also acknowledged was Mary Claire Richard, Principal of St. Hilary Catholic School in Red Rock who has decided to enjoy her retirement and to move back East to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

This year’s Award of Merit was given to Dauphine Campbell, FSL teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Manitouwadge. Mrs. Campbell was recognized for her exemplary teaching, her work at the church organizing funerals, and her leadership roles at the school, overseeing the Lunch Stop and the Student Council.

The second award for Service in Catholic Education is given to a person who contributes to the Catholicity of the staff, students, parents or community. This year’s recipient was Malou Gutierrez, a volunteer who works at Holy Saviour Parish in Marathon. Mrs. Gutierrez has a bubbly vibrant welcoming personality and goes above and beyond when organizing school and church collaborated activities.
