It is with great excitement that all 26 students and their chaperones arrived at school on Friday May 27th, at 5:30 A.M. to board the bus for their long awaited-for /trip to Toronto.  Their parents/ guardians, some teary-eyed, accompanied their children to school parking lot  to give them their blessing, their final recommendations and one last hug before their departure for a terrific adventure to the Big City.  Once in Toronto, the students were kept busy with a very tight agenda which brought them to the Metro Zoo, the CN Tower, a Blue-Jays game, the Medieval Time dinner and show, Niagara Falls, the Legislative Assembly, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Science Centre,an Arts gallery, the Lion King production, and many more fun and learning activities.  Of course a trip with young people would not be complete without the opportunity to shop!  The students were given plenty of time to shop at the Vaughn Mills shopping centre.  As always, the most exciting venue is saved for the end: Canada’s Wonderland!  The students made the most of the available time to enjoy the rides of their choice.

Throughout the entire trip, the excitement and enthusiasm were palpable.  The students were on their best behaviour, and enjoyed every venue they were brought to.  Many thanks to the  parents and the community for their support,  without which this trip would not have been possible.

EQAO provincial assessment.

Between May 30th and June 10th , grades three and six students across the province of Ontario have been writing the standardized test commonly referred to as EQAO.  At Our Lady of Lourdes, we like to ensure that our students are at their best possible disposition when doing EQAO; this includes good nutrition.  Parents contributed nutritious snacks and the school provided milk and juice for these students.  Shown in the picture are some of the students feasting their eyes on this beautiful watermelon fruit basket prepared by Myke and his mother Linda.
