SUSPICIOUS MALE CHARGED WITH THEFT in Nipigon

NIPIGON, ON – May 30, 2011 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a suspicious person.  It was reported to police that a male appeared to be hiding in the bushes near the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks south of Hwy 17, Township of Patience.  A description of the male and the motor vehicle he was operating was given to police and the male was located a short time later on Hwy 17, just East of Nipigon.

After conducting a traffic stop to speak to the driver, the driver was found to have been drinking and arrested.  Officers located stolen property and break and enter tools in the vehicle being driven by the male subject.  As a result of the investigation, the male was charged with Theft Under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possession of Break and Enter Instruments, Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80mgs of Blood Alcohol Content, and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking, contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The 53 year old male, Thomas MARYNISSEN of Niagara on the Lake, Ontario was held in custody for a bail hearing on May 31, 2011.  The male remains in custody at Thunder Bay and has a next court appearance of June 1, 2011 to answer to these charges.
