MANITOUWADGE, ON – Turn Off the Screens week, presented by the Manitouwadge Diabetes Program, kicked off yesterday, June 5th, with 3 events.

The Golfing Challenge, organized by Charles Newton, was very well attended and those who participated at the golf course had a great time. Meanwhile, inside the Recreation Centre at the Manitouwadge Public Library, Book Detectives gathered to get their clue sheets and start. Finally, at the Manitouwadge Nursery School, younger participants (up to 6 years of age) were welcomed for Bouncer Fun and a healthy snack.

The fun continues all week! Tonight (Tuesday, June 7) Fun Run from 6-8pm, begins at Rec Centre (if it rains will be held in auditorium) so far the sun is shining and it looks like it will be another great event. Walk, Run, Bike, Rollerblade – the choice is up to you! Plenty of fun & prizes, sponsored by the Diabetes Program AND Township of Manitouwadge. Will Manitouwadge’s participation outdo last week’s great turn out by Schreiber and Terrace Bay residents who faced off for their Community Fun Run’s? The race was close in those communities with Terrace Bay taking the banner with an impressive 14% of its population participating compared to Schreiber’s respectable turnout of 13% of the population.

Thanks to MDHWN CDE Jackie Jung, Organizer of TOTS Week for these great photos!
