MANITOUWADGE, ON – Wednesday, July 20th, the first 2 of 10 public sessions being held as part of Phase 3 of the CLUAH Project were held at KGs Bar and Lounge.  Response from the community was significant as nearly 100 people attended throughout the day.  Presenter John Peluch, Project Manager, Aboriginal Projects Northeast Region, reviewed a significant amount of information referring to a number of maps mounted around the room, in addition to hand=outs provided to those who came with maps, tips and written details of the 4 options being presented through CLUAH.

Among those in attendance were a number of staff including Peluch, a translator to assist any French speaking attendees, also there were members of the CLUAH Steering Committee, local trappers, hunters and anglers, Wawa District Representative of OntORA, members of the Manitouwadge Outdoor Enthusiasts group (CLICK HERE for a video i..nterview with MOE member Jocelyn Bourgoin regarding concerns/questions/clarification associated with CLUAH) a representative of NOTO and many others.

Attendees were credited, by representatives of each group, for their intelligent questions, insightful comments and respectful demeanor. This type of assembly will no doubt continue in the remaining communities.

Among the concerns raised at the Public Session was the availability of information regarding designation status of the Wawa District Lakes.  This info was made available during the Manitouwadge session (as it had been available on the website but with so much material for those interested to go through, it is obviously easy to have things lost in the mix, and those facilitating the meeting, John Peluch and MNR Staff, assured us that a link would be added to make the list more visible and obvious to those visiting the registry (www.ebr.gov.on.ca).
