THEFT, MISCHIEF AT CAMP NEAR CHAPLEAU
CHAPLEAU, ON – July 1, 2011 Superior East OPP in Chapleau were dispatched to a private camp on Bordon Lake near Chapleau. The camp is isolated and accessible only by ATV’s or 4-wheel drive vehicles. Person(s) unknown were reported to have caused an estimated $500.00 damage to a gate at the property and then drove around the gate through the bush to gain access to the camp. Once on site a Mastercraft Radial Arm saw with a 10 inch blade was stolen. Although there were other items of value at the camp, nothing else was reported stolen.
The OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in solving this crime. Anyone with any information is asked to call The OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers. Camp owners are also requested to report any suspicious vehicles or individuals in these areas and keep an eye on each other’s camps to help eliminate this type of activity.
