Strengthening Nipigon’s Local Economy

McGuinty Government Supporting Tourism, Creating Jobs

“This strategy builds upon and highlights the strengths of the beautiful Township of Nipigon, while creating new economic and business opportunities and positioning it for growth. This project is another example of how the McGuinty government is providing communities with the tools they need to succeed and prosper.” Michael Gravelle, MPP for Thunder Bay-Superior North

Ontario is helping the Township of Nipigon and its business community increase tourism and strengthen the local economy.

With support from Ontario’s Rural Economic Development Program, the Township will develop a strategy that effectively uses signs and an easy-to-identify brand to attract visitors from the nearby Trans Canada Highway. This will help the Township attract new businesses, as well as strengthen the existing business community.

Building strong local economies is part of the McGuinty government’s plan to create jobs and opportunities that will grow the province’s economy.
