Terrace Bay Marihuana Grow-Op Busted By Combined Forces Units

Originating Service: Ontario Provincial Police-Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Drug Enforcement Unit

 

September 23, 2011 members of the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by members from the Schreiber detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a residence on Birch Crescent in Terrace Bay. 

Officers located an indoor and outdoor marihuana grow operation on the property and seized 20 marihuana plants, 4 grams of Cannabis Resin, approximately 50 Hydro-Morphine pills and $1400.00. 

The street value of the drug seized is approximately $22,600.00.

Charged are:

  • Steve CAMPBELL (44 years of age) of Terrace Bay with:
    • Possession of Marihuana for the Purposes of Trafficking.
    • Production of Marihuana.
    • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
    • Possession Cannabis Resin.
    • Possession of Hydro-Morphine for the Purposes of Trafficking.
    • Breach of Probation.
  • Shelly SMILES (50 years of age) of Terrace Bay with:
    • Possession of Marihuana for the Purposes of Trafficking.
    • Production of Marihuana.
    • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
    • Possession Cannabis Resin.
    • Possession of Hydro-Morphine for the Purposes of Trafficking.
    • Breach of Probation.

CAMPBELLis being held in custody pending a Bail Hearing.  SMILES was released and will appear before the courts on January 11, 2012.

The Combined Forces Organized Crime Unit consists of members from The Thunder Bay Police Service, The O.P.P.- Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, The R.C.M.P., The Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and The Anishinabek Police Service.
