PARKS CANADA WINTER CLOSURES

Winter closures at Parks Canada sites: Fort St. Joseph closed Oct. 10 after another successful season; Navigation season at Sault Canal recreational lock ends Oct. 15

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – Fort St. Joseph National Historic Site of Canada on St. Joseph Island closed for the winter after a busy Thanksgiving weekend. The site will re-open on June 1, 2012.

Parks Canada and the City of Sault Ste. Marie will also suspend lock operations at the Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site. While the navigation season for the lock runs from May 15 to October 15 each year, the Parks Canada visitor centre and adjacent grounds remain open to the public Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the fall and winter.
