Schreiber/Nipigon OPP Weekend Review Sept 30 – Oct 2

NIPIGON OPP CHARGE DRIVER FOR POSSESSION 

NIPIGON, ON –During the weekend of September 30 to October 2, 2011 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP):

  • Responded to 45 calls for service
  • Issued 29 Provincial Offence Notices.

Saturday October 1 at approximately 12:10 a.m. Nipigon OPP conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 11 and 17, Town of Nipigon.  The officer spoke to the driver and found that he had been drinking.  The 23 year old male driver, Billy THOMPSON, of Nipigon, Ontario has been charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content contrary to the Criminal Code.  The male is to appear in Nipigon Court on December 13 to answer to the charge.

Saturday October 1 at 10:20 p.m. a vehicle was stopped at Hwy 17 east of Nipigon, Township of Wiggins for a Highway Traffic Act offence.  While speaking to the driver, evidence of marijuana use was observed by the officer.  The 21 year old driver of Edmonton, Alberta was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.  The driver is to appear in Nipigon Court on December 13 to answer to the charge.

Schreiber OPP responded to a call at the Schreiber Recreation Centre,100 Langworthy Street, for a disturbance involving several people.  On Saturday October 1 at approximately 11:00 p.m. officers attended and after investigation arrested and charged one male for Cause Disturbance, Mischief Under $5000, and Breach of Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code.  The 19 year old male of Thunder Bay, Ontario is scheduled to appear in Schreiber Court on January 11, 2012 to answer to these charges.

Schreiber officers continue to investigate this incident and further charges are pending.
