MALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

MARATHON, ON – Thursday November 3, 2011, at 3:40 pm a Marathon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol on Highway 17 east ofMarathon. The officer observed a westbound vehicle pull to the shoulder of the highway and almost go into the ditch. The officer stopped to investigate and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The male driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The vehicle was searched incident to arrest and 60 grams of marihuana was located in a backpack. The male was transported to the Marathon OPP detachment for breath tests.

Nicholas HEMINGTON, 28 year old male, of Newmarket,Ontario was charged with impaired operation, operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood and possession of a controlled substance. The accused was released and is to appear in court in Marathon on January 12, 2012.
