MARATHON, ON – November 23-26, in Toronto, Ontario, Marathon Family Health Team’s Physician Recruiter, Brett Redden, attended the 49th Annual Ontario College of Family Physician’s (OCFP) Scientific Assembly Conference. The goal of the conference was to meet new residents and physicians, as well as to educate the medical community about our community and physician needs.

“I set up a marketing booth that highlighted both the family health team and the community.I used my golf background to spark up conversations and drum up interest in our community. To attract persons to the Marathon booth, I use a putting contest. Each person that made the putt had an opportunity to win a prize. If the putt was not made, the person could place their email address in the ballot box for a chance to win a draw prize, drawn at the end of each day.”

“Overall the conference was a worthwhile event to attend. I obtained new locum and physician contacts, and plan to attend the event again in 2012. Most importantly, as I mentioned above, I was able to spread the word about our needs for additional physicians in our community.”
