STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE RECOVERED

MARATHON, ON – During the afternoon of December 15, 2011 Marathon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 just East of Marathon on a Black 2007 Infiniti G35X.

Investigation into the vehicle revealed it to be stolen from Calgary Alberta. A search of the vehicle recovered more stolen items such as laptops, watches, and a large amount of diamonds and jewellery. An estimated value of the items seized is $50,000.

The driver, Grigori MARGANIA, a 28 year old male from Calgary,Alberta was arrested and charged with:

  • 2 counts Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.
  • 3 counts Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.

The accused is to be held in custody awaiting a court hearing to answer to these charges.

Residents are reminded not to leave valuables in plain view in vehicles and to also lock your vehicles at all times. Anyone who notices suspicious activity is advised to call police as soon as possible.

The OPP are continuing their investigation regarding this incident.
