Wolverines win Sr. Girls Volleyball Crown Over Hometown Hawks
HORNEPAYNE, ON – The Manitouwadge High School Wolverines Senior Girls Volleyball team had to dig deep in order to defeat the hometown Hawks in their brand new gymnasium. Trailing 19-12 in the first set, the Wolverines led by Brittany Drapeau’s consistent serving pulled out a 25-23 win. The second set saw the Wolverines lead the entire way until the Hawks decided to mount a comeback of their own. Nicole Piche tipped the ball over the net to secure another exciting 25-23 victory over the Hawks.
The Wolverines(NSSSAA) will now host the NWOSSAA Championship next Thursday and Friday in Manitouwadge. It will be a rematch of the 2008-09 final with the La Verendyre Vipers from SSSAA, and the Queen Elizabeth Warriors from Sioux Lookout( NorWOSSA).
