2013 Regional Youth Conference: Nipigon Looks to Inspire, Inform and Educate Young Entrepreneurs

Nipigon Renews Business Development Program

NIPIGON, ON –  The Township of Nipigon is embarking in a new direction with their 2012 Business Development Program. The Economic Development Committee has identified three areas where we need to focus to encourage active business development in our community. The goals of the Township of Nipigon’s Business Development program are to:

  • Foster and build working relationships with existing businesses, entrepreneurs and youth;
  • Implement projects that encourage active participation from the business community;
  • Provide the knowledge, access to services and inspiration to attract and retain youth.

The future of Business Development for Nipigon

Nipigon will strive to work with businesses, entrepreneurs and youth to encourage a vibrant and diverse business community. We want to build relationships between businesses within the existing business community, create unique opportunities for entrepreneurs and give youth an avenue to explore and build their business ideas. We will work together to make Nipigon a self-sustaining, vibrant and diverse business community where practicality, innovation and uniqueness collide.

It will be one of the focuses of the Township of Nipigon’s Business Development Program to provide the knowledge, access to services and inspiration to attract and retain youth. The youth need to get excited about doing business in Nipigon.

“They need to feel involved and consulted. We need to inspire the youth that live here, to stay here,” said Charmaine Beaulieu, Economic Development Project Coordinator. “By developing a multi-partner regional youth conference, we give them something to get excited about. With the proper speakers, presenters and information/workshop sessions each youth who attends will have the tools they need to think about and hopefully start their own business, now or in the future. If we do not start now it will be too late.”

If you have any suggestions or would like to become involved in the planning/partnering for the 2013 Regional Youth Conference please contact Charmaine Beaulieu at The Township of Nipigon 807-887-3135 ext 27.
