Wolverines Sweep NSSSAA Badminton Final-Qualifiers in Wawa

WAWA, ON – The East Division of  the North Shore Secondary School Athletics Association (NSSSAA) held their qualifying tournament for the 2012 NSSSAA Final Qualifiers in Wawa yesterday, March 27th, at Michipicoten High School and Ecole Secondaire St. Joseph.

In the Junior Division, Manitouwadge sent 12 out of 16 players to the final; Liam Aguiar topped the Junior Boys Singles event while Josephine Robertson qualified second in Junior Girls Singles.  In Junior Singles Doubles Alexia Dubois and Anna-Marie Gillman finished second for the girls and Jaden Tiedtke and Mercedes Hunter took first place in Mixed Doubles with fellow Wolverines Andre Bourgeois and Denika Jomphe qualifying in Second Place. In Junior Boys Doubles, 1st was claimed by the team of Fogarty-Amor, and Gervais-MacGregor second.

In the Senior event, Manitouwadge High School claimed the spotlight as Wolverines’ individual and pairs badminton players finished first in all categories:

All players will advance to the NSSSAA 2012 Badminton Finals to be held in Marathon April 12th, 2012.
