 “Bring Your Own Device” Night

SCHREIBER, ON –  “iCreate, iThink, iLearn” – This is the title of an exciting technology project currently unfolding at Holy Angels School in Schreiber.  Cara Figliomeni & Kim Figliomeni, two teachers with Superior North Catholic District School Board (SNCDSB), applied for a TLLP (Teacher Learning & Leading Program) to use iPads in the classroom to increase students’ critical thinking.  Through this project, we received 15 iPads with a charging cart and a MacBook Pro.  Since October, we have been introducing iPads into the classrooms and using this exciting technology to engage students as they learn.

As part of our sharing, Cara & Kim hosted a B.Y.O.D. (Bring Your Own Device) Night April 17, where students, parents and residents from Schreiber, Terrace Bay, Rossport & Pays Plat were invited out to learn, share and understand all the cool uses of iPod, iPhone and iPad technology.  Over 30 people came out to listen, ask questions and share their favourite apps and tricks.  In attendance, participants ranged from pre-Kindergarten students (who are quite skilled) to “experienced” adults learning how to use this technology more effectively.

As part of continued sharing, Cara & Kim plan to host a similar evening in Terrace Bay in a few weeks, where people are welcome to come continue their learning and sharing.

Our philosophy is iShare, uShare so that together weDiscover.
