TORONTO, ON – Chief Dean Sayers of Batchewana First Nation (BFN) was among the leadership present at the All Ontario Chiefs Conference today, where Stan Beardy was elected Ontario Regional Chief.

Batchewana First Nation Chief and Council look forward to working with Regional Chief Beardy. BFN leadership are confident he will represent the region well as a member of the Assembly of First Nations Executive.

Chief Dean Sayers commented, “ Over 100 Chiefs participated in the traditional stand up election, resulting in victory for Chief Beardy. We are pleased that the new Regional Chief’s perspective in one that is directly aligned with Batchewana First Nation’s, specifically our Notice of Assertions”.

BFN Chief and Council would like thank and acknowledge former Regional Chief Angus Toulouse for his efforts and many contributions to the Anishnaabe Peoples of Turtle Island during his term as Ontario Regional Chief.
