Previously Anticipated Stillwater EIS Delayed

MARATHON, ON– Marathon Mine Joint Review Panel Co-Manager, Marie LeGrow, emailed interested parties today to notify of a delay regarding Stillwater’s Environmental Impact Statement for the Marathon PGM-Cu Project which had been expected this past week (June 11-15) according to an original announcement made June 4th (CLICK to read that: Stillwater’s Environmental Impact Statement Expected Next Week for Marathon PGM-Cu Project).

No reasons are given for the delay in the letter from Stillwater’s Environmental Manager Tabatha LeBlanc which is available to view on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency “[…]We anticipated having our EIS Report submitted this week but ran into a few delays. We appreciate your patience and my apologies for the delay. The report should be submitted next week.”

ABOUT THE PROJECT Stillwater Canada Inc. is proposing to construct, operate and decommission the Marathon Platinum Group Metals and Copper Mine Project (the Project). The Project is located approximately 10 kilometres north of Marathon, Ontario. The proposed project would include three open pits, an ore processing plant, tailings and mine rock storage facilities, site access roads, a 7-kilometre power transmission line, explosives factory and magazines, water management facilities, ancillary mine infrastructure, and associated activities. The rate of production would be approximately 22 000 tonnes per day with a proposed operating mine life of approximately 11.5 years.
