Shred 4 A Cause Rolls Through Northshore

Harris (in photo w/board) and Abott said construction crews on the highways along their journey had been very understanding, giving the board (and whichever one of them was riding it) plenty of room on the road and often wanting to hear details of their journey. Photos OntarioNewsNorth.com

MANITOUWADGE, ON – If you travelled Highway 17 between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie last week you may have seen them making their way East. Two twenty-something men, one riding a long board, the other driving their chase vehicle a van covered with sponsors’ decals as well as that of their cause the Brain Association of Canada.

June 22nd, OntarioNewsNorth.com caught up with Jeff Abott and Mike Harris,  extreme sports enthusiasts more widely known as simply Shred 4 A Cause – (the name of the Non-Profit Organization they launched), as they left Manitouwadge via Highway 614 continuing their travels across the Northshore, towards their final goal of St. John’s Newfoundland.

“Shred 4 A Cause” is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to spreading awareness, and raising funds to support the Brain Injury Association of Canada. and encourage helmet use by youth and adults enjoying any sport “If you’re sport involves speed of any kind, if learning a sport includes the risk of falling, you should be wearing a helmet” was a message the men reiterated several times on the morning we spoke with them.

Along their travels Mike and Jeff have spoken with sports enthusiasts of all ages, they are glad to speak with youth groups while travelling through communities,  about the importance of wearing proper protective gear when enjoying any sports and what types of helmets are considered acceptable in Canada; if you would like to meet the Shred 4 A Cause team when they roll through your community or if you missed them and would like to follow their travels or send them an email with questions or comments you can find them online at:
