THREATS, BREAK & ENTER AND FIREARMS CHARGES LAID

GREENSTONE, ON  – On June 22, 2011 the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint relating to death threats and a break & enter in the area of Toronto Lake, a remote area north of the community of Jellicoe. A male not known to the victims had broken into a cabin and left a lengthy letter containing graphic death threats as well as threats to destroy their personal property.

An investigation was undertaken by members of the Greenstone Detachment with the assistance of the OPP’s Emergency Response Team, K-9 Unit, Northwest Region Crime Unit and Conservation Officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources.

As a result of the investigation 55 year old James DAVIS of Geraldton, Ontario has been arrested and charged with the following offences against the Criminal Code:

  • Uttering Death Threats
  • Uttering Threats to Destroy Property
  • Breaking and Entering
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Ammunition

James DAVIS remains in custody at this time and has his next Court appearance in Thunder Bay on June 24, 2011.
